A recent graduate of Iowa State University's College of Veterinary Medicine, Dr. Taylor Ross is originally from Washington State, where she grew up in a little logging town in the mountains. After high school, she attended Washington State University for her undergraduate studies. She then moved to Iowa to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. Taylor loves the variety of small and large animal medicine! She has special interests in small animal preventative medicine and surgery, dermatology, equine and small ruminant medicine, along with providing compassionate and holistic care to her patients.
She and her husband are excited to call the Bitterroot Valley home, along with their Golden Retriever Kasper and cat Ellie. Outside of the clinic, Dr. Taylor enjoys baking, hiking, and spending time with her family and friends!
Dr. Sam Parell is one of a couple veterinarians born into the St. Francis Pet Hospital family!
He graduated from Washington State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2019. His first- year out of vet school was spent at an emergency & specialty clinic in Colorado before he branched out on his own as a relief veterinarian. In April of 2024 he became the lead veterinarian of our clinic where he sees a variety of pets and livestock.
Bio to come!
Dr. Cecily grew up in Indiana on her family's farm. She comes from a family of animal care professionals, as her father opened St. Francis Pet Hospital, her mother is a wildlife biologist, and her brother is Dr. Sam Parell (above).
She has a passion for ophthalmology, parasitology, and dermatology, but she feels the greatest part of a career in veterinary medicine is facilitating and witnessing the love people have for their pets and the dedication pets have to their people.
In her spare time, Dr. Cecily can be found chasing around her toddler daughters, taking her black lab, Findlay, and standard poodle, Philippe, on adventures in the mountains, gardening with her backyard chickens by her side, working on an art project, or reading a good book with coffee in hand.
Dr. Parell (also known to his clients as “Doc Tom”) established his first of four veterinary practices in 1993. He is the founder of St. Francis Pet Hospital.
He was born and raised in Newark, NJ and attended St. Benedict’s Prep School, following the footsteps of his three older brothers. He graduated Magna Cum Laude from Villanova University & Dickinson College with a major in psychology and a minor in chemistry. It was after spending a day in a local veterinary clinic that he fell in love with veterinary medicine, which led him to earn his Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from the Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1981. Dr. Parell then went on to earn his MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania - a school whose MBA program has been ranked No. 1 in the world.
He is a member of a number of veterinary associations including the Indiana Veterinary Medical Association (IVMA), the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA), the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), and the Montana Veterinary Medical Association (MVMA).
Fittingly, Dr. Parell met his wife, Barbara, in a veterinary office before working together on a pig farming project. They have 5 children - two of whom are now veterinarians - and they spend much of their time in Indiana and Montana where they can fish, ski, enjoy photography, hike, and Dr. Parell can practice flying. Now that their children are grown, Dr. Parell and his wife share their home with their dog Sandy (Anatolian Shepherd), a very independent Bengal cat named Bellatrix, and a number of farm animals.
